Device fingerprint

A device fingerprint is a combination of technical details a website or app can read from a device: model, operating system version, screen size, language, time zone, installed fonts and more. Together they can identify a device fairly reliably, even without cookies.

What goes into a fingerprint

  • Hardware details such as model and screen resolution.
  • Software details such as OS version and browser version.
  • Settings such as language and time zone.
  • Network details such as IP address.

Why it matters for multiple accounts

If several accounts are used from the same device, they share one fingerprint, and platforms can see that they are linked. Giving each account its own device, such as its own cloud phone, means each one has its own set of details.
