Facebook name generator

Naming style
Tone

Names are combined from curated word lists and your own words, in your browser. Not AI. Check that a name is free to use, and remember personal profiles must use the name you go by in everyday life.

How it works

01

Describe your project

What you do, who it is for and any word you want included.

02

Choose Page or Group and a style

Local business, community, creator, brand or cause, in the tone you prefer.

03

Check and claim

Search Facebook for the name, check it is not someone else’s trademark, then create your Page or Group.

Choosing a Facebook Page or Group name

A good name tells people what the Page or Group is about before they click, is easy to say and search for, and still fits when you grow. This tool combines your own words with curated word lists to give you a long list to react to.

Pages, Groups and profiles are different

  • Pages represent businesses, brands, creators and causes.
  • Groups are communities where members post and talk.
  • Personal profiles must use the name you go by in everyday life, under Facebook’s rules. This tool does not create profile names.

Facebook’s naming rules

Facebook reviews Page names and can reject or change names that break its rules, for example names with unusual capitalisation or symbols, generic words on their own, or names that impersonate someone else. Read Facebook’s current Page name guidelines in its help centre before you settle on a name.

Naming styles

  • Local business: what you do plus where, such as “Riverside Sourdough Co.” People searching nearby find you faster.
  • Community: the shared interest and who it is for, such as “Leeds Home Bakers Club”.
  • Creator: your name plus your topic, such as “Maya Bakes”.
  • Brand: a short, ownable word that can grow beyond one product.
  • Cause: the change you want to see, written as an action.

Before you claim a name

  1. Search Facebook and the web for the name.
  2. Check that it is not a registered trademark of someone else.
  3. See whether a matching username and web domain are available.
  4. Say it out loud: is it easy to spell after hearing it once?

Frequently asked questions

Can I use this for my personal profile?

No. Facebook asks people to use the name they go by in everyday life on personal profiles. The generator is for Pages and Groups.

Can I change a Page name later?

Usually yes, but Facebook may review the change and limit how often you can make it. See Facebook’s help centre for the current rules.

Are the names AI-generated?

No. They are combined from curated word lists and the words you enter, in your browser.

Are the names guaranteed to be available?

No. The tool does not check Facebook or trademark registers. Search before you use a name.

Should my Group name include a place?

For local groups, yes: it tells people at a glance whether the group is for them.

Is it free?

Yes, with no sign-up or limits.
