YouTube bold text generator
Conversion happens in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.
How it works
01
Type or paste your text
A video title, a section header for your description, a channel tagline: anything you want to stand out.
02
Pick a style
The tool shows your text in bold serif, bold sans-serif, bold italic, script and more at the same time.
03
Copy and paste
Copy the version you like and paste it into YouTube. It stays bold because the characters themselves are bold.
Where Unicode bold shows up on YouTube
Bold Unicode characters are text, not formatting, so they appear wherever YouTube accepts text. The most useful places:
Video titles
One bold word can draw the eye to the key idea of a title in search results and suggestions.
Description headers
Bold labels such as Chapters, Links or Gear make a long description easier to scan.
Comments
Highlight a pinned comment or a key line in a reply.
Channel name and tagline
Bold part of a name or tagline to set it apart on your channel page.
Playlist titles
Help visitors spot the series they want on your channel home.
Community posts
Bold the first line so the point of the post is clear in the feed.
What Unicode bold text actually is
Unicode bold text is not a font. Unicode, the standard that defines the characters computers use, includes several sets of “mathematical” letters that happen to look bold, italic or script. The letter A you type is one character; the bold 𝐀 is a different character with its own code. This tool swaps each letter and digit for its bold counterpart.
Because the result is plain text, it travels wherever you paste it: no markdown, no styling, no special editor needed.
How YouTube formatting works without it
YouTube supports a little formatting in some places. In comments, for example, wrapping text in asterisks makes it bold. That does not work everywhere, and titles and channel names have no formatting options at all. Unicode bold fills that gap because it is not formatting.
Things to keep in mind
- Search: bold characters are different characters, so search engines and YouTube search may not match them to the normal word. Keep your main keyword in normal text.
- Accessibility: screen readers may read styled characters letter by letter or skip them. Use bold for emphasis, not for the information people need.
- Support: modern phones and computers display these characters, but very old devices may show empty boxes.
- Restraint: one or two bold words stand out; a whole bold title just looks loud.
Ideas for creators
- Bold the payoff word in a title, such as “5 habits that 𝐟𝐢𝐱𝐞𝐝 my mornings”.
- Use bold section labels in descriptions: 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐬, 𝐆𝐞𝐚𝐫.
- Keep one consistent style across a series so viewers recognise it.
- Test a bold title against a plain one and keep whichever performs better for your channel.
Frequently asked questions
Does YouTube allow bold text in titles?
YouTube has no bold option for titles, but titles accept Unicode characters, so bold-looking characters display as typed. YouTube can change how it handles special characters, so check your title after publishing.
Will bold text hurt my search ranking?
It can make a word harder to match, because bold characters are not the same as normal letters. Keep the words people search for in normal text and use bold only for emphasis.
Does it work in comments and descriptions?
Yes. Unicode bold works anywhere YouTube accepts text, including descriptions, comments and community posts.
Can I use it for Shorts titles?
Yes, the same rules apply as for regular video titles.
Will it look right on phones?
Current versions of Android, iOS, Windows and macOS include these characters. Some older devices may not, and will show boxes instead.
Why do numbers or accented letters look normal in some styles?
Unicode does not include every character in every style. Script and fraktur, for example, have no bold digits, and accented letters have no bold versions, so the tool leaves those characters unchanged.
Is the tool free?
Yes. It runs in your browser, needs no account and has no limits.
