A proxy server sits between your device and the internet. Your requests go to the proxy, which forwards them on; the website or app sees the proxy’s IP address and location rather than yours.
Common types
- Datacenter proxies use addresses from hosting companies.
- Residential proxies use addresses assigned to home internet connections.
- Mobile proxies use addresses from mobile carriers.
Proxies and multiple accounts
Giving each account its own proxy means each one connects from its own address. Pick a location that matches where the account is used, and prefer a stable (static) address for accounts you log into often.
